Volunteer at Round Lake
How can I make a difference for Jesus through Round Lake Christian Assembly?
Thanks for asking. We are always looking for members from within the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ who want to volunteer and minister on behalf of Christ. By way of information, all workers must complete a Volunter Questionnaire and Acknowledgement Form before participating in a week of summer camp. Some people find their greatest pleasure interacting with campers during summer camp weeks, when you can serve Christ through ministry to children and teens.
- Summer camp weeks span 10 weeks during the months of June through August.
- You could work as a faculty member or a kitchen helper for any one of 38 camp sessions.
- There are three locations to serve: Camp side (Grades 1 – 6), Lodge side (Grades 7 – 12) and Wilderness (Grades 4 – 12).
- There is one week specifically designed for those who are handicapped campers. These campers have special educational needs and are ministered to on a one-to-one ratio of camper and staff member. You might want to volunteer as a faculty member for this camp week.
- You could be a ‘Sunday greeter’ as families bring their children to camp; this provides a friendly face to children (and some parents) who may be nervous about attending Round Lake Christian Assembly. It also helps the camp staff stay focused on their task of registration.
- You could provide kitchen help for Deans of any camp week. This is a tremendous help to those whose responsibility it is to plan for a week of camp.
- If you would like to make a Dean aware that you are interested in volunteering for a summer session, you must fill out an online Volunteer Faculty Application. It will be forwarded to the appropriate Dean.
- You might wish to serve as a volunteer in the kitchen for a weekend retreat. This helps our food service personnel to concentrate on food preparation while other responsible servants are working to ensure that dishes are clean and ready for use.
- You might also want to consider volunteering to be a grill cook during the Men’s Retreat in September when steaks are grilled over an open flame.
- You might want to serve in housekeeping – either in preparing for a retreat or picking up after the conclusion of a retreat. One of the times when you could feel especially useful in housekeeping would be during Spring and Fall Family Camp Out weekends. These are concentrated times when it requires high maintenance in a short period of time.
- You might want to work in setting up for a retreat.
- We are always looking for good volunteers for workdays (usually held in April and May) as we prepare for summer camp. There may be other times of the year when you would like to volunteer, just to tidy up God’s tremendous gift to Christian Churches and Churches of Christ in our ministry area.
- You might have special vocational skills. Electricians, plumbers, roofers, carpenters, block masons and other tradesmen are always needed for various projects at Round Lake.
- Other vocational skills may also be in short supply. If you have a skill, please let us know how you would be willing to use it for Jesus at Round Lake Christian Assembly.
